Transformation
A major early intervention system transformation is underway in Virginia. The transformation, implemented October 1, 2009, is designed to:
- Improve access to services
- Improve quality and consistency of services and service delivery across the Commonwealth
- Meet federal requirements including timelines, personnel requirements
- Increase the number of early intervention providers
- Expand funding resources for early intervention
- Standardize processes across the Commonwealth
- Enable the state to collect and report data required by the General Assembly and the Office of Special Education Programs.
